Meet our Board

Rick Mockler, Interim President
Muir Commons

“Our task is to nurture cohousing to scale, to return healthy, engaged neighborhoods to the norm. If we’re successful, gated ‘communities’ and McMansions with a television in every room will go the way of disco - artifacts that our grandchildren will look back on and ask, ‘What WERE they thinking?’.”

David Entin
Rocky Hill Cohousing
Northampton, MA
"We seem to have lost a sense of community in America. Though approaching retirement, my wife and I joined an inter-generational cohousing group and have found a real sense of community. Cohousing is the antidote for this loss of community in America. We contribute to child care and offer our accumulated experiences and wisdom to younger folks. In turn we receive caring support as we age and encouragement to remain as active as possible. We participate in the Rocky Hill Cohousing book group, twice weekly common meals, men’s discussion group and weekly meditation, learned non-violent communication skills, and go cross country skiing with young folks. Living here is a real blessing for us. I want to share my experiences and support the growing cohousing movement across America."

Diane Margolis
Cambridge Cohousing
Cambridge, MA
"For decades I dreamed of something like cohousing. When I described it to friends, no one was interested. Then some Danes made it happen and Katie and Chuck wrote about it and now I live in the kind of community I dreamed about. I can’t imagine a better way to live and raise kids, especially for those whose families are spread around the country or the globe. It’s great to be on the board where we can help the cohousing movement grow."

David Wann
Harmony Village Cohousing
Golden, CO
“I believe the mini-movement of cohousing is partly a response to the loss of trust and individual empowerment that have become pervasive in our world. These “neighborhoods on purpose” are extremely valuable to a society so distracted by materialism and so shell-shocked by the frantic American lifestyle. Residents of cohousing are living actively rather than passively, and that’s why I joined a cohousing group more than 10 years ago.”

Eris Weaver
FrogSong Cohousing
Cotati, CA
"Cohousing has fulfilled so many of my needs, desires, and dreams, that I can’t imagine living any other way! Over the past 10 years, community has become not only my daily life, my friendship network and my family, but my work as well. As a facilitator, trainer and consultant, I work with forming and existing communities to improve their interpersonal connections, communication skills and decision-making processes. I get paid to help other folks live this dream – how cool is THAT?!?
