Rosewind Cohousing is located in Port Townsend, Washington. Port Townsend is a great place to raise a family or retire. It is a small town with amenities often only found in larger cities. School options include public/private/homeschool/ and alternative programs run by the school district. There are many festivals and cultural events and excellent access to organic and local foods from the fabulous farmer’s market, food co-op and many local organic farmers. The nearby state park has swimming beaches and trails though meadows and forest. All this is within 1-2 miles of Rosewind Cohousing and accessible from the many walking and bike paths.

The house is open and sunny with good pastoral views from most rooms. There is one bed and one bath on each of two main floors. The upstairs bedroom has a large alcove which can easily serve as a bedroom for a younger child. The unfinished daylight basement has full sized windows, ½ bath and a separate entrance, and could be finished into additional living space or apartment. The house has a solar PV system tied to the electric grid (income producing), and a solar hot water heating system with electric backup.

The new owners will have access to all the community facilities at RoseWind, including large meadow, orchard, vegetable gardens, common house with dining room/kitchen/rec room/kids room, courtyard. Optional community meals (2-3 times a week), discussion circles, a monthly meeting and work party are well attended and provide ongoing contact with other community members. Most members are extensively involved with larger Port Townsend community and can help a new family make contacts with the many active groups.

As parents of school aged children, we have found our neighbors at Rosewind to be an incredible asset to our family in many, many ways.
